ECW on Sci-Fi report
Airdate July 15, 2008

A video highlighting Tony Atlas’ turn from last week is shown. Tazz is in the ring and introduces ‘The Worlds Strongest Champion’ Mark Henry and Tony Atlas. Atlas cut some promo about carrying bags and saying he’d only do that for Mark Henry. So Atlas is his baggage handler? Atlas informs us Henry has a demonstration, a random guy gives Atlas a load of frying pans, I hope this is for Mark Henry’s new frying pan range.

Atlas tells Henry to prove to these people that the pan is real, so Henry hits the pan on the turnbuckle. They challenge someone in the crowd to bend the pan; “Chad” comes in and fails to bend the pan, Atlas tells him to hit the bricks. Henry bends the pan like a pretzel.

Dreamer comes out and says he’s been training hard for his shot at the ECW title at the Great American Bash and he’d like to try and bend a pan. Henry smashes the damned thing into his chest, Dreamer tries and tries but fails – hey that is the story of his career! He had enough and walloped Henry in the head with the pan and left, that pan was clearly gimmicked.

Tony Atlas was so great throughout this.

We come back from the break with Teddy Long telling Dreamer he won’t stand for what Dreamer did so he has to get to stepping and leave. Dreamer reluctantly leaves.

Mike Knox is out to face Shannon Moore. Knox won. Knox’s offence does look really good and his finisher – the STO thingy looks brutal. But he is still boring as hell to watch.

We’re back from the Raw Rebound and WWE shop ads with Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely coming down to the ring. Chavo’s opponent for the night is Evan Bourne! Bourne cuts that same cheesy, 80s style Superstars promo with the little box in the corner of the screen like he did last week.

Some good wrestling from both men start this one off, Bourne has the early advance and goes to the top; however he is knocked off the top rope and to the floor by Chavo. Chavo throws Bourne back into the ring and works over him with knees and applies a chin lock.

Bourne fights out of it with spin kicks, Chavo and Bourne do an awesome lucha arm drag spot which turned into Bourne giving Chavo a standing moonsault. Bourne gets the knees up from Chavo’s Vader bomb; Bourne goes to the top and hits that beautiful shooting start press for the win!

We go backstage where Colin Delaney is talking to a hot blonde. Sadly for Colin he is cock blocked when Henry comes by and tells the chick to leave. Henry teases not hurting Colin but changes his mind and gives Colin a bear hug and a press slams onto a crate.

Main Event Time!!! WWE Tag Team Champions – John Morrison and the Miz come out, their followed by the Hardys who get a huge response from the crowd.

We come back from the break with Miz and Matt in the ring. Matt makes the tag to Jeff and the people make some noise.

The tag champs try to corner Jeff but fail; both the Hardys give Morrison a swinging back drop type move. Miz distracts Matt and he gets cornered, Matt tries to fight out of the corner but is hit with a big clothesline by the Miz.

Miz and Morrison do some fine tag team wrestling on Matt, but this didn’t last long; Matt turned a piledriver attempt into a Russian leg sweep and made the tag to Jeff. Jeff runs wild on Miz and gets him set up for a Swanton Bomb, luckily for Miz his partner John Morrison pulls him out of harms way as we go to our final break.

We’re back to live action with Jeff Hardy in a rear chin lock courtesy of John Morrison. We’re shown what happened during the break – the Miz threw Jeff into the crowd barrier behind the ref’s back.

Every time either Morrison or Miz miss a move they immediately tag out and the other one goes right back to work on Jeff. Jeff finally gets some offence going and hits the Whisper in the Wind on Miz. Matt gets the hot tag, Morrison bumps like a mad man for Matt.

Matt’s offence doesn’t last long as Morrison catches Matt and gives him a hot shot.

Morrison sets Matt up for the cork-screw splash but Matt gets up and cuts him off mid-way up the ropes. Hardy gives Morrison a crucifix bomb power but the Miz breaks the pin up, Matt gets up and nails Miz with the side effect.

Morrison has recovered enough to give Matt the moonlight drive, Morrison pins Matt but the ref is tied up with Miz. Jeff climbs the top rope and gives Morrison the Swanton bomb, Matt rolls over and pins Morrison for the win.

Jeff & Matt celebrate as ECW goes off the air. Great match.

Fine edition of ECW this week, the lack of Estrada was so damn welcoming; no Ricky Ortiz is always good too. If you’re looking at the show from a booking perspective there wasn’t a lot wrong, Bourne got his biggest win to date, Dreamer wasn’t a total jobber going into his match this Sunday and Jeff & Matt got their win back from the draft show.

I hope we see Hardys vs. Miz and Morrison again soon.
