Wednesday news update: More on Prinze/WWE, UK ratings, Hogan working with MMA star and more
- WWE this morning issued a press release confirming that Freddie Prinze, Jr is now part of WWE’s creative team. The press release noted the actor was a long-time WWE fan (something which more often than not won’t get you a job with creative.
Vince McMahon was quoted as saying: “Freddie Prinze, Jr.’s passion, energy and creativity make him an excellent fit for WWE.”
Chris McCumber, Executive Vice President Marketing Digital & Brand Strategy, USA Network, added: “Bringing on board an experienced Hollywood writer, actor and producer like Freddie Prinze, Jr. will only increase the level of entertainment to millions of viewers and passionate WWE fans every Monday on USA.”
A few media outlets in the States have already picked up on the news as well as Hollywood related blogs and websites. It’ll be an interesting one to follow.

- Thanks to Ian Hamilton for sending along the following UK ratings: The Great American Bash drew 98,000 airing live on July 20. Raw from July 14 drew 33,000 in the live slot, 62,000 in the July 17 replay (down 21,000 from last week ) and 60,000 in the July 18 replay.
Smackdown from July 18 drew 58,000 in the first airing (down 1,000) and drew 30,000 on a Saturday July 19 morning replay (down 44,000). ECW from July 15 drew 37,000 on July 17 and Afterburn drew 31,000 on Sunday July 20.

- Devin Cutting sent word that the presale password for the September 8 edition of Raw in Fort Wayne, Indiana is JOHNCENA. Presale tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday) at 10am local time ahead of general sale on Saturday.
