ECW on Sci-Fi report
Airdate August 12

After the opening titles and pyro finish, we’re informed of tonight’s main event which is Miz and Morrison vs. Mark Henry and Matt Hardy. Our first match of the evening is the ‘Extreme Rules’ match between Tommy Dreamer and Colin Delaney.

Dreamer is out with a shopping trolley full of weapons. Colin makes his way out but is hesitant to get into the ring, he eventually tries to run off but Dreamer catches him and brings Delaney back to the ring. Colin tried to hit Dreamer with a trash can lid off the steps but failed due to Dreamer clocking him in the ribs with a cane.

Dreamer then uses the cane again but this time for a pump-handle over head suplex. Colin is hung up in the tree of woe, Dreamer positions a trash can in Colin’s face and hits the dropkick. Dreamer isn’t finished yet, he goes up to the second rope and misses a splash on Colin. Colin then goes up to the second rope to hit a leg drop with a sign, but he too misses. Dreamer gets up and hits the DDT on a sign for the victory.

Lena Yada is backstage with Miz and Morrison. They replay last weeks live edition of the Dirt Sheet. Miz and Morrison say they’ll win tonight, be jealous.

Evan Bourne is out next to face Bam Neely. Bourne tries to get some offence in but Bam overpowers him and rams him into the corner. Bourne fights out of the corner with kicks, he is goes up top but Bam Neely knocks him off to the floor. Bam brings him back in and turns Evan Bourne inside out with a clothesline. Bam picks up Evan and goes to ram him into the corner again, but before Bam could get to the corner Evan Bourne gets a roll-up but isn’t strong enough to get Neely down.

Bourne gets to his feet and chops the big man down with kicks and hits a standing moonsault for a 2 count. Bourne goes for the hurricanrana but Bam Neely stops it, Bourne flips up and hits the DDT. Bourne goes up top and hits the shooting star press for the 1-2-3.

Teddy Long and Tiffany were in the office when Armando Estrada walked in. He told Long to sign his new ECW contract, Long did and told Estrada he was facing Finlay – Tonight!

Finlay vs. Estrada was totally one-sided. Finlay beat the crap out of Estrada till Finlay was distracted but Mike Knox on the ramp. Estrada had a small amount of offence until Finlay cut him off and won the match with a Celtic cross. Post-match Finlay motioned for Mike Knox to bring it but Knox walked off. Finlay and Hornswoggle then danced in the ring with a young fan.

Ortiz came into Long’s office and showed him the new Ricky Ortiz towels. He told Long to invest in 50,000 of these things, Long then told Ortiz to “slow your roll”. Long said Ortiz he will have a chance to continue his undefeated run in ECW against a new superstar next week.

After a replay of the John Cena and Batista pull apart, Matt Striker and Todd Grisham ran down the Summerslam card. But it was now time for our main event of John Morrison and The Miz vs. ECW Champion Mark Henry and the number one contender Matt Hardy.

Henry and Morrison started; Henry overpowers Morrison and then brings in Miz. He beats on both dudes till Matt Hardy comes in and they both clean house as we head to the break.

We’re back with Morrison getting beaten on. Hardy misses an elbow drop which allows Morrison to tag out. Hardy and Miz fight a bit until Hardy hits the bulldog for a 2 count. Both Miz and Hardy are on the outside when Miz kicks Hardy into the steps, this allows the former tag champs to work on Hardy.

Hardy is propped on the second rope as Morrison went for something; Hardy however stopped Morrison and hit the side effect. I don’t know if it was botched or Morrison was hurt but the ref counted 3 even though Morrison clearly got his shoulder up. After Hardy got off Morrison, the ref and Miz both checked on Morrison, maybe he did get hurt.

Henry came in and booted Miz out of the ring and demanded the ref hold his arm up in victory. Henry helped Hardy up and held his arm up, but then in predictable fashion, Henry scooped up Hardy and hit the world’s strongest slam as ECW went off the air.
