Affliction cancel Arlovski vs. Barnett PPV

Wednesday September 10, 2008 BY Phil Lowe

Affliction’s second pay-per-view show, scheduled for October 11 and to be headlined by Andrei Arlovski vs. Josh Barnett for a title shot at Fedor Emelianenko, has been cancelled.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon, although tickets for the show, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, were still being sold as of lunchtime local time.

But fighters on the card were being informed today that the show had been postponed to a later date, as were PPV companies.

Kizer told Sherdog.com that the event was being moved to January at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

There had been speculation since last week that Afflicition was looking for a way to announce a cancellation after poor advance ticket sales.

That came after a debut show that is believed to have lost around $4million.
