ECW on Sci-Fi TV report (airdate October 14)
ECW starts with Mark Henry storming to the ring. A replay of Henry destroying Noble and Hardy was shown. Tony Atlas says that was a message to Matt Hardy and that Henry wants his title back. Teddy Long then comes out and says that he’ll give Henry another chance to win the title back, but in the form of being one of the 3 choices in the ECW title Cyber Sunday Match. The other two men would be determined by qualifying matches, and the first one is next!
Evan Bourne came out and offered his hand out to Henry, when Henry went to shake it; Bourne smugly pulled away and grinned. Henry then stormed off to the back as Evan’s opponent, Chavo Guerrero, came out.
There was a lot of mat work and headlocks from Chavo Guerrero until Bourne Lucha arm dragged him out of the ring and then hit a dive to the outside. After the break, Bourne was caught by Chavo’s knees after going for the standing moonsault. After being dominated by Chavo, Bourne got some offence going and set Chavo up for the top rope hurricanrana. Chavo however, moved out of the way when Bourne went for the hurricanrana, thus causing Bourne to land balls first on the top turnbuckle. Chavo then got a close 2 count.
It went back and forth for a bit, Chavo went for the three amigos, but on the third amigo, Bourne give Chavo knee strikes to the head. It ended up with Chavo on the second rope, but he got caught with a hurricanrana and then Bourne got up to the top to hit the shooting star press to book his place at Cyber Sunday. Good match and the right man definitely won.
Henry came out and got his revenge on Bourne’s disrespect shown to him earlier in the night. Henry leaves Bourne lying and strolls back to the locker room.
We’re shown a graphic informing us the other qualifying match is between Finlay and John Morrison. Some rewind thing shows Jeff beating MVP and then getting beaten up by Kozlov.
Teddy Long was in his office when he saw Tiffany dressed up as a Vegas showgirl. She said Long should dress up as Elvis. Jack SWAGGGGGGGGGGGGERRRRRRR comes into the office wearing blue Braden Walker gear. Swagger asks Teddy, why isn’t he a choice in the Cyber Sunday vote in? Teddy gives him some bullshit before Tommy Dreamer comes in and asks for a title shot after Cyber Sunday. Swagger laughs and says is this 1996? Swagger puts him down some more and walks off.
JoMo is out for his qualifying match against Finlay!
Like in the Bourne vs. Guerrero match, there was a lot of early mat work from both men. Finlay manages to throw Morrison out of the ring and then distract the ref. Meanwhile, Hornswoggle did a mini tope to Miz and Morrison on the outside, and then sucked Miz under the ring. Not in that way, you dirty minds; well maybe he did, because Miz was never seen again.
After the break, Morrison worked over Finlay’s left arm until both men went back and forth. Hornswoggle returned from under the ring and sat in the ring in a slumped position. With the ref and Morrison distracted, Finlay grabbed his stick, but Mike Knox came out of nowhere and stole the stick from Finlay. Morrison saw that Finlay was distracted, so he hit is springboard kick for a 2 count. Knox was then sucked under the ring like Miz was.
The ref was distracted again, which allowed Cryme Tyme, yes, Cryme Tyme to come from under the ring and give Finlay his stick thus allowing him to smash Morrison in the head with it and book his place at Cyber Sunday. Another good match here too.
Finlay then clocked both of Cryme Tyme with his stick and walked off with his midget son. However, Mark Henry came from behind and slammed Finlay on the ramp as ECW went off the air.
Hopefully, Evan Bourne is the one picked to face Matt Hardy at Cyber Sunday; it’ll likely be Finlay which I’m totally happy with. I didn’t mind having just two matches on the show, mainly because they built up to Cyber Sunday, and they were both good matches.
