ECW on Sci-Fi TV report (airdate September 30)

Wednesday October 1, 2008 BY Steve McLaren

Teddy Long and Tiffany were in the ring after the pyro went off. Tiffany welcomed out ECW Champion Matt Hardy and his opponent at No Mercy, Mark Henry. Henry tells Matt Hardy that this is a big week for him, what with the Smackdown champions vs. champions triple threat and then his title defence at No Mercy. Henry tells Hardy that on Smackdown, he’ll embarrass himself and then lose the ECW title to Henry at No Mercy.

Hardy says it is a big week and he loves it like that. He then says being ECW champion isn’t all about him or his ego, it’s about being the best that ECW has to offer. He then calls bullshit on Henry’s claim that he’ll embarrass himself on Smackdown and lose at No Mercy. It gets a little heated between the two, but John Morrison’s music hits before they come to blows.

Miz and Morrison say they had the match of the year last week, and they want those “nerds” Ricky Ortiz and Evan Bourne in the ring tonight. They both chant “NERDS” repeatedly until Long cuts them off and makes Morrison & Miz & Henry vs. Hardy & Bourne & Ortiz in the main event tonight.

Jack Swagger is out to squash Lenny Lane, who looks like the love child of Bobby Eaton and Jeff Jarrett. Swagger, as excepted, killed Lane and hit the doctor bomb for the victory.

Post-match, Swagger gave Lane a neckbreaker, and Tommy Dreamer ran out before Swagger could do anything more. Is Dreamer’s gimmick to be the king of the jobbers?

Dreamer was actually wrestling next against my favourite ECW wrestler, Mike Knox!!! Knox was stiffing Dreamer early on and it ruled. Dreamer had the upper hand for like a minute until Dreamer missed the shoulder to the gut and smashed the post. Knox dragged him out of the corner and hit the STO for the win.

Post-match, Swagger came down and gave Dreamer a doctor bomb.

After they plugged the shit out of all their upcoming events this week, it was main event time between Morrison & Miz & Henry vs. Hardy & Bourne & Ortiz.

Bourne and Miz started out; Bourne had the upper hand and tagged out to Ortiz. Ortiz ran wild on everyone and tagged back out to Bourne. This time Bourne was worked over for a brief period until he hit a head scissors out of nowhere and made the tag to Matt Hardy.

Matt Hardy ran wild and sent Morrison and Miz packing with a double clothesline, Mark Henry attempted to come in and attack Hardy, but his partners in Ricky Ortiz and Evan Bourne came in and backed him up as we went to a break.

We came back with John Morrison getting worked over by all 3 of the faces for a while. Morrison eventually made the tag to Henry who came in and killed Ortiz. I loved it. Morrison is back in but Ortiz makes the tag to Bourne who flipped over the top rope and then hit a hurricanrana in one motion, it ruled!

Bourne was running wild and bodies were flying over the top rope, but Bourne was killed and pinned by Mark Henry with the world’s strongest slam once Henry tagged in. ECW went off the air with Mark Henry standing tall.

It was a really short show this week, and quite a bit of time went to plugging all the other big things on TV this week. I must mention again this week, that Matt Striker is the best colour commentator in many moons. Replace Jerry Lawler with Striker for gods sakes.
