First off, can Cote cause the biggest upset of all time?
Simply, no. I would actually put the house on Anderson Silva smashing through Patrick Cote without breaking a sweat.
Technically, these sort of things are supposed to be balanced, but I’m not going to be. It’s the biggest mis-match in UFC main event history. I very well could be setting myself for one hell of a fall if Cote actually wins, but I can confidently state that I know I’ll be right.
It actually amazes me how Cote got this fight. After all, the talk was about Yushin Okami’s eventual title shot (which was delayed due to an injury) and Cote suddenly emerged out of nowhere.
Let’s talk facts for a second. Cote has won his last five fights. Three of those ended with TKO victories in round one, one was a split decision victory and the other was an unanimous points victory. Sounds impressive and it certainly is, but with all respect, this is Anderson Silva. This isn’t Kendall Grove or Scott Smith.
If Anderson Silva shows even half the ability that helped him win his last Middleweight fight against Dan Henderson, then he’ll win with ease.
Cote will need to have the fight of his life to even have a chance. I’ve gone for a Silva TKO victory in round one.
