ECW on Sci-Fi TV report (airdate December 16)

Wednesday December 17, 2008 BY Steve McLaren

Matt Hardy was first out and spoke about how happy he was that Jeff Hardy became the new WWE Champion. He said he was proud about what they’ve both done in the WWE. Before he could finish talking about the celebration Jeff will have on Smackdown, Chavo Guerrero came out.

Chavo said Jeff stole the belt, but Edge will get it back. Chavo also said that Vickie checked with Teddy Long, who then agreed to give Chavo an ECW title shot tonight. Teddy came out in a Christmas costume and said the match was on next.

After working over Hardy’s arm, Chavo and Matt had a back and forth match. Chavo was doing the 3 amigos, but on the third one, Matt Hardy reversed the suplex and hit the twist of fate to retain his ECW Championship.

After the Raw Rebound, Hornswoggle was messing around with Matt Striker. ‘Swoggle threw water over Striker and then stole his Slammy.

Finlay was facing Gavin Spears, who did get in quite a bit of offense. However, it wasn’t to be for Spears as Finlay hit the Celtic cross and that was that.

DJ Gabriel and Alicia Foxx were dancing backstage when Mark Henry told them to beat it. Instead of running off, they danced away. Henry was dressed as Santa, and then out of nowhere came Tony Atlas with a red nose and reindeer antlers. This man is incredible. Henry cut a promo in the style of a poem; he went on about how he is going to squash the midget. This was great stuff all-round.

Before the main event, the faces involved - CM Punk, Kofi Kingston and Ricky Ortiz - were backstage talking with Tiffany. Ortiz gave her a gift, which just so happened to be an Ortiz towel. Punk ripped on Ortiz but made him give Kofi a towel too, Kofi was not impressed with this.

The main event of CM Punk, Kofi Kingston & Ricky Ortiz vs. Miz, Morrison & Jack Swagger, saw the faces send the heels packing as we went to a break. We came back with Kofi running wild on everyone, but he was dumped off the top by Jack Swagger.

Throughout the entire match, The Miz was selling his neck. It broke down again, but it was left to the legal men in the ring, Jack Swagger and Ricky Ortiz, to settle things. Ortiz missed a flying splash; this allowed Swagger to hit the doctor bomb and get the win for his team.
