WWE’s JBL laid out by announcer Styles – report

Tuesday December 9, 2008 BY Phil Lowe

In the true ‘Oh My God!’ moment of the year in the WWE, Joey Styles punched out JBL during WWE’s Tribute to the Troops tour last week in Iraq, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.

Its a great story that many will feel had been coming to JBL for a long time, with Styles reportedly catching him with a punch to the eye that bust him open and left him sporting a black eye.

That could actually explain the cowboy hat and lack of closeup shots of Bradshaw during his brief appearance on Raw last night.

The incident came after a series of incidents on the tour. Prior to the WWE crew landing in Iraq, Lilian Garcia was woken from a sleep by having water poured on her head as a result of an unwritten rule, according to Styles himself on WWE.com last week, who said there was “an unwritten rule that you do not fall asleep on the first leg of this trip from the USA to Europe.”

Heaven forbid somebody should try and catch up on some sleep on a long-haul flight.

According to PWInsider.com’s report, JBL had made Styles a target with it being his first trip to Iraq with the company. Things eventually reached boiling point and when the two were being held apart by some of the roster, Styles landed a shot that laid JBL out.

As much as I’m a fan of JBL’s work on the mic, the hazing and bullying that goes on in the WWE is so uncalled for. And for a corporate company that is so strict on sticking to guidelines when it comes to dress code and such like, it amazes me that Vince McMahon and others in management allow it to happen – even when its somebody who is tight with the boss.

Perhaps Bradshaw should have been downing his energy drinks rather than booze on the trip.
