Bisping vs. Henderson at UFC 100 as White confirms three title matches to take place

Saturday February 21, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

Dana White has confirmed that Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson in the The Ultimate Fighter 9 finale will take place at UFC 100.

The UFC’s biggest event in its history will take place in Las Vegas on July 11 with Bisping co-headlining the show.

White has already revealed that a win for Bisping would guarantee him a middleweight title on a future show in the UK, with the 29-year-old taking on Anderson Silva, should Silva beat Thales Leites at UFC 97 in Montreal this April.

“This is going to be the fight that is going to answer all the questions about Michael Bisping,” White told Setanta Sports News.

“Is he going to take that next step and break into the top five fighters in that division?

“If he beats Dan Henderson not only will he break into that top five his next fight will be a title shot against Anderson Silva, which would hopefully be here in the UK.”

The UFC president has also revealed that Georges St. Pierre will defend the UFC welterweight title against rising star Thiago Alves at UFC 100 and moved to end speculation that all five titles could be up for grabs at the historic show.

“I’ve been putting it off for so long, we’ve been doing so many fights that I couldn’t focus on UFC 100,” he said. “After the BJ Penn and Georges St Pierre fight was over, we sat down and put together a great card and I don’t think the fans are going to be disappointed.”

“There won’t be five title belts on the line but there will be three major fights on that card.”
