UFC 97 sells out in less than a week
The UFC announced on Friday that UFC 97 has sold out – less than a week after tickets were put on sale.
UFC 97, which takes place on April 18 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, was in doubt until earlier this week, with the company preparing to move the event to Las Vegas due to regulatory issues.
But after resolving problems with officials in Canada, the show goes ahead as normal.
“I knew going back to Montreal would be another home run,” UFC President Dana White told UFC.com. “Our Canadian fan base is incredibly strong and continues to grow even in these hard times.
“UFC events continue to bring a substantial economic impact to the city of Montreal.”
UFC 97 tickets went on sale to Fight Club members on February 11 before going on general sale on February 14.
UFC 97 features a main event between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Thales Leites, while Chuck Liddell meets Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the co-main event.
