Sunday March 8, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

Shane Carwin impressed at UFC 96 on Saturday with a first-round knockout win over Gabriel Gonzaga.

Carwin now moves to 11-0 with all eleven wins incredibly coming in the first round.

Gonzaga was left out cold on Saturday night in Columbus after Carwin landed a left jab and followed it up with a short right hand to Gonzaga’s chin.

It was Carwin’s toughest test to date – and he passed with flying colours.

Carwin could now be in line for a heavyweight title shot against either Brock Lesnar or Frank Mir, whose title clash will now headline UFC 100 on July 11.
