TNA Impact tapings tonight, Lashley, Lockdown and more

Tuesday April 21, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

After Sunday’s Lockdown PPV in Philadelphia, TNA return to Orlando this evening for the first of two nights of Impact TV tapings.

Announced for this Thursday night’s show is AJ Styles vs. Kevin Nash for the Legends Title and Taylor Wilde vs. Sojo Bolt in a Knockouts Ladder Match for a Women’s Championship title shot at new women’s champ Angelina Love. Mike Tenay will conduct an interview with Christopher Daniels, plus new TNA champion Mick Foley will speak, Team 3D have an announcement to make and there will no doubt be a huge deal made of the signing of Bobby Lashley, whose arrival has led to a lot of criticism from the MMA world.

I must admit, if Lashley is planning on sticking around in TNA, I don’t see his MMA career working out if his goal remains to make it to the top of the industry. How long before we get Lashley vs. Angle in a worked MMA match on Impact or on a TNA PPV? I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that happens at some point.

As always, we’ll have Impact spoilers up on the site early Wednesday and Thursday morning from this week’s tapings courtesy of Jon Jones. If you missed it, Jon’s Lockdown recap is up at this link and gives you a clear hint on who the second former world champion joining the company will be.

If you saw Lockdown on Sunday, you’ll have seen that Love was knocked silly during her match with Wilde and Awesome Kong. That looked pretty scary but she was said to be ok after the match. The PPV airs here in the UK tomorrow (Wednesday) night on Bravo.

Last Thursday’s “go home” edition of Impact did fewer viewers than the previous week, but still drew a 1.3 rating on Spike TV.
