WWE Smackdown spoilers from MSG, New York
Airdate Friday, May 1
by Paul Williams

- Chris Jericho opened Smackdown with a promo. He said Smackdown was his show and that he didn’t think it right he was in a 4-way to get a title shot at Judgment Day. I guess they decided a Scramble match with Khali in there was a bad idea. Edge interrupted and said Jericho has never beaten Cena, while Edge beat him Sunday to become champion again. CM Punk interrupted them both and reminded them he has a title shot to cash in. Edge vs. Punk in a non-title match is tonight – Punk said he’d beat Edge, cash in the title shot and beat him again to become champion.

- John Morrison beat Shelton Benjamin. Looked like Morrison is turning babyface.

- Jericho was complaining backstage. Great Khali and Ranjin interrupted. The Great Khali says Jericho should stop his moaning.

- Jeff Hardy beat Kane, Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio in a Fatal 4-way to earn a title shot at Judgment Day. This was real good. Kane was eliminated first. Jericho hit Rey with a chair to get DQ’d, giving us Rey vs. Hardy. Jeff countered the West Coast Pop for the pin. Should be good on TV.

- Cryme Tyme promo. They announce a dance contest with Layla and Eve. Eve won and the Divas got into a fight.

- Backstage, Sherri Shepherd told MVP she would show him around ‘The View’ on Monday.

- U.S. Champion MVP beat Dolph Ziggler.

- Chris Jericho was complaining at Teddy Long backstage. John Morrison walked by and called Jericho a loser, so he slapped him. Punk walked by with a smile on his face.

- CM Punk beat Edge in a non-title match. He hit the GTS for the win then was about to cash in his title shot, but before the match could get started, Umaga made his return through the crowd and laid out Punk. Edge took the briefcase and went to hit Punk with it, but Jeff Hardy hit the ring, hit Edge and hit a Swanton. Punk left with the briefcase so I guess since the match didn’t start, he still has the title shot to cash in. Good taping overall.
