WWE tape Smackdown/ECW tonight, Matt Hardy update and more

Tuesday April 28, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

WWE have announced three matches for tonight’s Smackdown and ECW taping at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Jeff Hardy, Triple H and John Cena vs. Randy Orton, Edge and Matt Hardy is being advertised as a dark match although that may well change depending on whether WWE are keeping Triple H completely off shows until he returns to TV.

As we saw last night on Raw, Matt Hardy is working with a cast on his arm. I guess although he’s staying on TV, there’s a chance that he’ll be pulled from non-televised matches for the next few weeks.

Announced for the TV taping is Chris Jericho vs. John Morrison vs. Great Khali vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Jeff Hardy in a Scramble match with the winner facing Edge for the World Heavyweight title at Judgment Day in a few weeks.

Also announced is MVP defending his U.S title against Dolph Ziggler. Yep, an inter-promotional match already, although the brand split is only being ignored to run an angle with Sherri Shepherd of ‘The View.’

ECW also tapes tonight and as always, if you’re heading to MSG, we’re on the lookout for spoilers and dark match results from the tapings.
