Latest on Ric Flair’s WWE status following Judgment Day
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio last night following WWE’s Judgment Day PPV that Ric Flair is scheduled for talks with Vince McMahon, which may have already taken place at time of this writing.
Flair had recently rejected the chance to return to WWE as Smackdown GM, reportedly turning down around $250,000 per year to return to the company full-time. Flair thought he would make more than that by doing signings and making appearances with Indy promotions in the U.S and overseas, although whether he could make more than that figure each year in the long-term, I’m not so sure.
The feeling is that Flair, who wants to wrestle again (although WWE have recently not been so keen on the idea), will be at tonight’s Raw TV taping, which should be an interesting show after last night’s “thumbs up” Judgment Day PPV.
Given that Flair, who of course is scheduled to appear for Ring of Honor in a couple of weeks time, appeared last night to make the save in a main event match, I think its safe to assume his appearance was more than a one-off for WWE and it could even be a short-term measure to be able to keep Triple H off TV a little while longer.
