UFC 100 WILL air live in the UK

Wednesday July 8, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

In a very brief follow-up on the piece we put up on the site yesterday regarding UFC 100 and television rights to UFC programming (which you can read here), the UFC have this morning confirmed to iFight365.com that this Saturday night’s PPV will air live in the UK.

As we noted yesterday afternoon in an update, ESPN have announced plans to launch a new channel on August 3 in the UK, with a HD simulcast channel also launching. The cost will be £9 per month to Sky Sports subscribers or £12 per month if you have Sky but do not subscribe to the sports channels.

Non-Sky customers (Virgin, Freeview etc) will have to wait a little longer to find out if they will be able to subscribe to ESPN, which will show Premier League football, US sports which are currently found on ESPN America and quite possibly more which will be announced shortly.

As I said yesterday, although unconfirmed, my guess is that UFC will end up on ESPN.

As soon as we get further details, we’ll bring them to you.
