UFC – Rampage vs. Rashad off as Jackson announces retirement

Wednesday September 23, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has announced that his planned match with fellow TUF 10 coach Rashad Evans will not take place and that he is “done fighting.”

Rampage wrote on his official website late on Tuesday that he will quit MMA to focus on an acting career.

Jackson, who has been cast as BA Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie, slammed the UFC and Dana White after asking to have his planned fight in Memphis moved back so he could try out for the Mr. T role.

White has for some time believed Rampage vs. Rashad in the battle of the two The Ultimate Fighter 10 coaches would do great business and had touted it as the “most anticipated match in MMA history.”

On his website, Rampage wrote of White regarding asking for the fight to be put back: “Dana went on the Internet and mocked me because of that and I still did nothing. Dana and I finally talked and we made up and then afer that he went back on the Internet and said some bullshit and he was talking bad about the movie when information is not even supposed to be released and talking about payments which is not even true could really hurt my future acting career, which could very well last longer than my fighting career.”

He added: “I’m done fighting. I’ve been getting negative reviews from the dumb ass fans that don’t pay my bills or put my kids through college. So I’m hanging it up. I’m gonna miss all my loyal fans but hopefully they’ll follow me to my new career and I will gain more loyal fans along the way.

“And all you hater fans out there can kiss my big black hairy ass and anybody that don’t like what I just said can come try and kick my ass.”
