Liger and New Japan to promote 5th Super J-Cup
Jushin “Thunder” Liger announced recently that he and the original of the Super J-Cup Tournament will be reviving the concept this Christmas. Promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling, “Super J-Cup 5th Stage: Land of Confusion” will take place at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, December 22 and Wednesday December 23.
The Super J-Cup is a historic junior heavyweight tournament that has been responsible for introducing some of the top wrestling talents from around the world. In addition to Liger, past participants included Eddie Guerrero as Black Tiger, Chris Benoit as Wild Pegasus, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho as Lionhart, CIMA, TAKA Michinoku, Hayabusa, Ultimo Dragon, Kung-Fu Naki under his real name Shoichi Funaki, Masaaki Mochizuki, The Great Sasuke, Kaz Hayashi, Christopher Daniels as Curry Man, and Naomichi Marufuji.
Given that he has contacts with numerous wrestling promotions around the world at this time, Liger is expected to involve participation from other promotions such as Dragon Gate, Pro Wrestling NOAH, All Japan Pro Wrestling, Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and more.
