Matt Hamill (8-2-0) vs. Jon Jones (9-0)

UFC Betting Line: Jon Jones -260

In the main event of the evening, Matt “The Hammer” Hamill locks up with MMA’s Lebron James in Jon “Bones” Jones for a tilt that is promised to vault the winner into the contending ranks among the UFC Light Heavyweight elite.

Leading up to TUF 10 Finale: Matt Hamill

Hamill has been in tough of late in the UFC. Since losing – whether he did or not is debatable – to Michael Bisping at UFC 75 he has had some trouble getting back on track.

Hamill suffered a devastating loss at the hands of former middleweight champion Rich “Ace”  Franklin at UFC 88 in which he submitted due to the rare “liver kicks.” Since then he has put together a two-fight win streak, in the latter of which he nearly kicked Mark Munoz’ head clean off.

His striking has improved significantly and he is hoping to carry on his modest win streak against Jones.

Leading up to TUF 10 Finale: Jon Jones

Jon Jones is a freak. At just 22-years-old, Jones has racked up a seriously impressive winning streak. Sitting at 9-0, Jones is the top prospect that the UFC bodes and has had proceeded to pick his opponents apart in his most recent fights.

His last fight versus Jake O’Brien was a lesson in evading and capitalizing. Jones stuffed a few early takedown attempts and when he had the chance, found the opening and sunk in a quick guillotine choke to get the second round finish.

The fight prior was the destruction of TUF 1 finalist Stephan Bonner. Again using his unparalleled evasion tactics Jones stuffed numerous takedown attempts and kept the fight in his specialty area – standing up. He then caught Bonner with a vicious back spinning elbow and put him down, although unable to finish the fight, Jones won by unanimous decision.

TUF 10 Finale Betting: Hamill vs. Jones Matchup

This may be Matt Hamill’s last fight with a serious Light Heavyweight competitor, so he definitely going to be putting his best foot forward. If Hamill is going to win this fight he’s going to have to push the pace from the onset and continue to take Jones down and tire him out. If there is one knock on Jones it’s that thus far his cardio hasn’t looked all the way there.

For Jones, this may end up as just another stepping stone along the path to greatness. If he is to win this fight he just simply has to be himself. Use his lethal combination of unorthodox throws kicks and suplexes. Comes at him from weird and dynamic angles and finish the fight standing.

TUF 10 Finale Betting: Outlook & Pick

This fight boils down to the fact that there is no real way to train to face Jon Jones. He is a one of a kind fighter that surprises his opponents with a different approach to every fight. We see something new from him every time out that makes you wonder what kind of fighter he actually is. With that in mind, Jones will keep the majority of this fight standing and while standing will knock Matt Hamill out.

Pick: Jones by second round knockout
