Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres (37-3) posted this on his Twitter site today after filling out paperwork at the doctors office prior to having his head stitched up.
Torres received the cut to his forehead on March 6th at the “WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz” event against Joseph Benavidez, suffering a second straight loss, just the third in forty professional fights.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker spoke about a possible re-match between former Strikeforce middleweight champs Cung Le (6-1) and Frank Shamrock (23-10-2) for June.
“The fight with Cung and Scott was an amazing fight,” Coker said. “I know Cung would like that rematch, and I’m sure Scott would like that fight again at some point.
“We haven’t locked that down yet, but that will be determined soon. If that fight happens, it will happen in late June.”

The upcoming ASTRA event on April 25th has seen two changes made to the card, which will be headlined by the retirement fight of Japanese legend Hidehiko Yoshida. The first change comes as former PRIDE and Sengoku veteran Makoto Takimoto, a Yoshida dojo member who holds an MMA record of 6-5, has announced his retirement effective immediately, which removes him from the card.

Last season, UFC President Dana White suggested that there was so much good footage from the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, that a post-show episode was necessary, leading to the creation of The Ultimate Fighter: The Aftermath, which was hosted by Ultimate Fighter 7 winner Amir Sadollah and aired on Spike TV’s website.
This year, there must be just as much quality footage as the show will return, with Ultimate Fighter 1 finalist Stephan Bonnar taking over the hosting duties from Sadollah. Each 15-minute episode will feature a roundtable discussion …

The long-awaited Strikeforce debut of Roger Gracie finally has a date set as the ADCC submission grappling and CBJJ jiu-jitsu champion will meet former PRIDE and UFC star Kevin Randleman at a Strikeforce event that is set for May 15th in St. Louis, MO. A bitter dispute between DirecTV and Comcast, parent company of the Versus channel, which has gone on since August has finally been resolved as the two sides have announced an agreement that sees  Versus return to DirecTV’s lineup in its original package position, just in time for fight fans to get to see the UFC’s debut event on the cable channel.

Two of the WEC’s fastest-rising Featherweight prospects appear to be on a collision course as Anthony Morrison and Mackens Semerzier are in talks to meet as part of the undercard for WEC 48, which takes place on April 24th at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, CA. When comparing UFC heavyweights Shane Carwin (11-0) and champion Brock Lesnar (4-1) against one another, former UFC champion Frank Mir (13-4) feels that in the octagon, Carwin poses the more dangerous of the two.

Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White posted that note from his Twitter site on Saturday, refuting the rumors that Tito Ortiz had been replaced by Rich Franklin against Chuck Liddell.
Rumors yesterday had Ortiz pulling out of the fight and “The Ultimate Fighter” 11 series for undisclosed reasons, to be replaced by “Ace” Franklin. The fight date was also called to question as Fighters Only Magazine had the bout moved to April’s Fight Night event instead of UFC 115.
