A big day for Strikeforce in terms of matchmaking was made even bigger when former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski announced on his official website that he had signed a sixteen-month, multi-fight deal with the promotion with his first appearance likely coming as part of a Showtime event in May where he would face former EliteXC Heavyweight Champion Antonio “Junior” Silva.

KJ Noons of San Diego, CA has been stripped of his EliteXC lightweight title, EliteXC Head of Fight Operations, Jeremy Lappen, has confirmed.

Kimbo Slice vs. UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock has been confirmed for EliteXC’s next CBS-EliteXC Saturday Night Fights event on October 4.
 
EliteXC vice president Jared Shaw confirmed the news late on Monday, telling MMAWeekly.com: “We were clearing the runway for Oct. 4 and we’re landing with some heavy artillery. Antonio Silva, recently crowned EliteXC’s first-ever heavyweight champion, has been suspended for one year and fined $2,500 for his alleged use of the anabolic steroid Boldenone.
 
The California State Athletic Commission confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon.
 
Silva will have the opportunity to file an appeal with the commission.
 
Silva (11-1) scored a second-round TKO victory over Justin Eilers at EliteXC’s July 26 “Unfinished Business” event in Stockton, CA, but he failed a drug test administered by the CSAC at the event.
 
Justin Eilers, Nick Thompson and Jake Shields all tested clean.
