Dana White Blasts Herschel Walker And Media Coverage Of His Strikeforce Fight

Strikeforce found itself in the midst of a media blitz last month when they had 47-year old former NFL All-Pro Herschel Walker compete in his first professional MMA bout on the main card of their Strikeforce: Miami event on Showtime and it appears that the whole thing has UFC President Dana White less than amused. UFC – Brock Lesnar to return to the Octagon this summer

UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is set to return to the Octagon this summer.

Lesnar will fight the winner of the Shane Carwin vs. Frank Mir fight at UFC 111.

Lesnar appeared alongside UFC president Dana White on ESPN in the U.S on Wednesday to make the announcement.

Lesnar said that he had been feeling sick for some time while he was training for his fight with Shane Carwin, which was scheduled for UFC 106 last November.

With 2010 upon us, we thought we’d share with you our favourite moments from the MMA scene in 2009.

MMA enjoyed huge success throughout the year, with several fighters going on to become world class athletes. The highlights were endless – Team UK impressed during season nine of The Ultimate Fighter, Kimbo Slice made his UFC debut, Dan Hardy sent shockwaves through the welterweight division, Team England impressed in the M1 Challenge and Affliction suffered in similar fashion to the PRIDE organisation.

One thing is for sure however, it was an awesome year to be an MMA fan…

UFC 107 – Penn dominant against Sanchez, Mir makes quick work of Kongo

Lightweight champion BJ Penn dominated Diego Sanchez en route to a fifth-round TKO at UFC 107 on Saturday night.

Sanchez, who had never been stopped before, was simply outgunned and outmatched. He did not complain when the one-sided fight was finally halted due to a massive gash on his forehead.

Late last week, HBO, which is not only a premium channel on your cable dial but also a major distributor of pay-per-view programming, announced that it had attained at least 1.25 million pay-per-view buys for the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto fight, generating about $70 million in gross revenue.

For Floyd Mayweather’s “comeback” fight against Juan Manuel Marquez a couple of months ago, they declared a little over a million buys, producing roughly $52 million. UFC – Brock Lesnar requires “major surgery,” may never fight again

In an update on the condition of UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, UFC president Dana White told TMZ on Monday that there “a possibility” that the 32-year-old will never fight again.

Lesnar, who is also suffering from mononucleosis, is “very, very sick,” according to White, who revealed to the TMZ website that the former WWE star also has some sort of intestinal disorder.
