Brock Lesnar has been confirmed as suffering from mononucleosis and his January 2, 2010 fight with Shane Carwin is off.
White informed UFC president Dana White on Wednesday of the diagnosis that he received earlier this week.
The UFC Heavyweight champion has been instructed not to train for a month, ruling out the chance of fighting as soon as January.
White told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports: “We’re still trying to figure it out and I’m really not sure where any of it stands right now.”

Hard to believe, but WWE’s Hell in a Cell gimmick has been around now for 12 years.
Throughout this period, it’s seen its ups and downs, but this modern-day Cage Match has largely been an enormous success. The popularity of it in terms of contemporary gimmicks is probably only equaled by the TLC match.
It’s also succeeded the Steel Cage match as the ultimate means to ending a blood-feud (though in today’s climate, where no blood is permitted, that definition is somewhat lost), in the same manner that TLC has eclipsed the regular Ladder Match format…

Ultimate Fighting Championship announced on Thursday that Brock Lesnar will be next defending the UFC Heavyweight Championship against undefeated Shane Carwin at UFC 106 in Las Vegas on November 21 in the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Carwin (11-0) was originally scheduled to face Cain Velasquez at UFC 104 on October 24 in Los Angeles with the winner getting the next shot at Lesnar (4-1), but the change was done in order to kick off a series of November to February schedule of big shows with a Lesnar fight.
