WWE BACKLASH AS IT HAPPENED: NEW WWE, WORLD AND ECW CHAMPIONS CROWNED

WWE’s Backlash PPV took place on Sunday night from Providence, RI.

It was a something of a mixed bag, with some good and some bad matches and with three new champions crowned.

A new ECW champion was crowned as Christian beat Jack Swagger in a highly entaining match to open the show, while Randy Orton pinned Triple H to become the new WWE champion.

And in the main event of the night, John Cena lost his World Heavyweight belt to Edge, thanks to a ‘Big’ assist…

And once it’s passed by, once the dust has settled, and the shadows have dispersed, is it safe to come out? Is it okay to emerge from your little shelter and gaze back into the grappling world?

Of course it is.

Post-draft, nothing has changed, or to express another cliché, in this column chock-full of them, the more things change, the more they stay the same…
