UFC – Jon Fitch targets GSP and Welterweight title after UFC 107

Nothing about Jon Fitch is sexy. He’s tall and lanky. He has big ears. He’s got shaggy brown hair and forgets to shave quite often.

You would also be hard pressed to find any footage of him that was highlight reel worthy.

Mind you these are characteristics of the consensus #2 ranked welterweight in the world with a career record of (20 – 3) with one no contest…

UFC 105 – Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy picks

There is a school of thought that Saturday’s Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy welterweight fight winner at UFC 105 in Manchester, England will get the next title shot at Georges St. Pierre. But it’s probably going to take an excellent performance or an epic back-and-forth fight between the two for UFC President Dana White to give them the opportunity to fight a fighter the caliber of St. Pierre, even despite the fact that there aren’t a whole lot of other options.

UFC – Improvements that could be made from MMA in Japan

The UFC has skyrocketed in popularity with the rise of compelling fighters like Brock Lesnar and Georges St. Pierre among others, but it still seems to lack a certain charm at times. GSP vs. Silva – the UFC dream match

It’s different when your dream match-up is something like Ali vs. Tyson, or Jordan vs. LeBron. Those matchups will never happen until we master time travel (and I’m not convinced we’re anywhere close despite what Dr. Emmett Brown would have me believe). But when a league like the UFC is hampered by weight classes and exclusivity rights, it’s difficult to sometimes get the fight you’ve always dreamed of. One such dream match would pit Georges St. Piere against Brazilian Anderson Silva, the two fighters who consistently hear the term “best pound-for-pound fighter” when their names are mentioned. But the problem, like in any good sport, is that time is of the essence…
